Sasha told us she could have done with a XC bike, where she had to use her enduro bike - "it rode like a tractor - a fast tractor though!!" Horrendous weather conditions on the U41 meant only 27 riders out of 105 started.

Tom Bowden was also out road racing today in the Primavera road race in Devon. It was a pretty standard race until the last lap when two got away. Tom managed to solo bridge them before a untimely mechanical ended his race, Tom said the legs felt strong and was great to be out racing.
Sunday the weather was looking even worse for the U17 Severn Road Club event, the organiser stating at the end it was touch or go to run the 25 mile event.
With a very strong team out today and the first time the team have had a team of at least 3 out it was a great chance to chase team and individual prizes.
Rory Gilling was the unluckiest man of the day snapping a chain ending his race early. Watching the clock around the course it was very obvious it was going to be close between Felix Wilkinson and Jake Sargent. Jake has been under the eye of FTP cycle coaching and had made big improvements in his pacing and TT position and was keen to get that first race in.
It was as close as it looked at the end with Jake taking the win from Felix by just 10 seconds with Mike Davis backing them up to make a team that would of ran away with the team prize (there wasn't a team prize at this event today)..
Seeing FTP racing in the 1st and 2nd place on the results was awesome and really showed the team mean business this year
The success continued with Sasha Smith taking on the last race of the Odd Down winter series. Sasha has held off racing to early after picking up a winter illness but after a solid block she was keen to get the first one under her belt, especially after a very strong ftp test with FTP cycle coaching behind her. Sasha grabbed a 2nd place and that all important first race in the bag.
The season started for the team this weekend with some tough conditions. The U102 on the Saturday was the first up and Jo Buckland was kicking off her season on a very blustery course in Iron Acton. She did herself and the team and FTP cycling very proud, taking the fastest vet on standard and picking up her first prize of the season
