After 7 hard fought rounds the team are victorious at the British team cup ,
Racing a series of events is always a tough one when we put so much into allowing our riders to chase their own ambitions rather than just the teams targets.
that said everyone did their part over every round , riders sacrificed their own race to support the team and chase the overall result
Caitlin picked up her own and the teams first win in huge style at the first round of the series , getting in the brake away Caitlin sprinted to a great result in a super strong field of riders to set us on our way
Floren took our second series win with a great early sprint in the bunch and held it to the line. this was the point the team really believed we could be contenders for the other all title
The last 2 rounds we went in with a full plan of what we needed to do to achieve our target
after having our lead cut right own we we went out at Duncan Merry wines road race ready to attack and prove we wanted the result , we left with a 63 point lead to take us into the final round
We had a plan now to stick to it , two riders went up the road which was perfect for us as they would mop up the big points, with 2 laps to go Katherine set up by some great team work got launched off the front and put in a huge effort to breakaway from the group , coming home 3rd and helping secure the title
Hill climbing; short but intense.
A flat out effort up a hill with a number pinned on your back is a level of suffering you never knew existed but yet soon discover just how hard you can really push yourself and find your absolute limit - and this is something I've learnt to love.
The HC season came straight off the back of a busy road race calendar for me. Seeing everyone wrap up for the year and celebrate their off-season, I was getting ready for another world of pain.
This year was my first time giving the hills a proper good go. I dabbled last year, finishing 19th on The Struggle National Champs 2023, but this year I made it a goal to finish top 10.
After finishing the 2024 road season strong, I was confident the hills were going to be a blast and this year I made the effort to travel further afield to mix things up a little with different competition. I took a win at Crown Point and set a new course record on Mill Lee Road, and then quite possibly the pinnacle of my season; taking the win at Monsal.
I went on to win the North East HC series and knowing that Nationals were going to be in the region this year, I was surrounded by local support and they didn't disappoint...
The National Champs blew me away. Having so many people cheering you on, a wall of noise, the crowds were spilling out onto the road ahead, it was deafening, and by far, the best support I've experienced.
I'm a strong believer that the crowds will carry you, make you go deeper and find those extra watts. And with a strong finish on the climb, I claimed 5th overall; a result I was very happy with, exceeding my own expectations! This result contributed to winning the team prize, and I was immensely proud of the girls for their efforts for us to claim the title.
I've taken great pleasure representing FTP throughout the hill climb season after joining the team at the back end of this year, and this title win is a very well deserved trophy for their cabinet to round off the season.
