The team has really grown this year , not just in size but ambition also , we keep the same rider first approach which will never change but we bring in more support , a more streamlined set up and the best environment we can for the team to grow.
We've improved our mental health support , our pre and post race support , Raceday support and race program have all improved.
We have been so lucky to keep the core riders and add in a great mix of riders on different levels of experience that when brought together have really shown what can be achieved with the right people.
To say we are excited for 2024 is an understatement
The Race started with alot of aggressive attacks that split the field early , a strong group go away at the front after some early crashes along with the pace split the groups apart.
Caitlin made the main split with Becky and Claire just behind
Caitlin attacked in the now select group at the front a few times in the last lap trying to get those extra yards that would get the result , a big attack just as the group turned right into the racecourse at Goodwood was brave but Caitlin managed to hold it to the line and claim a well deserved victory
FTP racing left round one topping the team standings ,with a full team out for the next race we will be looking to hold onto that lead and try and build on it ,
We have opened our applications for 2024 Women's Elite team and have already been blown away with the applications both in number and quality.
As we look to add depth to the team to ensure we can represent at all the National races and spread the team around to take in more races and bigger challenges.
if you interested in applying for the Elite team in 2024 please use the contact us page
This is at the top of the list because its at the top of our list for everyone involved with the management of the team , supporting riders targets and ambition is key to everything we do.
We offer a mental health professional to support the riders and offer opportunities to be involved with the next generation of talent through our mentor program.
everything we do puts the rider at the top of the decision tree and it will always that way
We will race the full National A road and crit series in 24 , with planed trips overseas to build experience and bond the team.
Riders will be given opportunity to shine and have the team behind them, we support each other in good times and the challenging learning ones
We have a strong TT , Triathlon , MTB , Gravel set up in the wider FTP family and there's a wealth of knowledge throughout.
We offer training opportunities to help riders learn and grow in a No Pressure environment
We have a Women's lead in Viv Tomlin that is directly involved and valued in team affairs ensuring the riders needs are met and relayed to team management to put protocol in place to protect and support riders this teamed up with an open women's forum, Mental health support , nutrition talks and wider support really help riders feel valued in the team
We have worked hard to make FTP a team for everyone , with a wide structure that has built to over 30 women riders within the set up.
We have riders doing their first race or progressing through and building confidence, riders who are right on the edge of the National team and want to build confidence in Nat B races first , riders who have never ridden in a team and want to build the skills and knowledge base to really be a force in top level cycling.
We truly believe everyone deserves a chance and people can join the wider structure at any point and any level and find FTP racing a welcoming and supportive place to grow
Just Wow - National champs did not disappoint, we loved every second , rubbing shoulders with world tour riders and the best UK talent.
Lilie did us incredibly proud on the Friday night with a very strong display in the Crit race , ensuring spirits where high going into the Road Race on Sunday.
Viv Unfortunately missed the early kick and large group getaway , with Lilie settling into a large group
super strong super active and a great race brain, make Viv a key team member to help execute the team plan
Hills or a sprint Rosie can hold her own anywhere, we are excited to watch Rosie progress in 2023
Another strong climber , looks to make moves happen and support the team push or be in that key breakaway
Impressed massively in 2022in Clare's strength and willingness to work,Clare will be a essential part of opening opportunities for the team
A specialist sprinter with excellent bike skills means Sasha can always be in the mix on race day
Claire is a excellent asset to the team, both for the work she's willing to put in but also a secret weapon to have a go at plan B
A top quality rider with experience and the ability to make things happen in the pack, a rider ready to take any opportunity presented or simply make her own
Multi Discipline multi skilled rider, Jo will excel with a strong team network around her and help support the team targets
Another of our super strong super adaptable riders for 2023,Sian will fit so well with the team and thrive on working in a strong unit
This race brings all the talent in the UK to one place , a 147 strong women's line up took to the infamous course, we took a team of just 4 after injuries and illness have hit the team, The Saturday recce got the riders excited and nervous in equal measure .We had a brilliant support crew in Tony Smith , Josh Griffiths and Paul from Arrow Cycles alongside Team Manger Billy Oliver and Teammate Lilie Sanders and the race was on.
With a short lap a nervous and aggressive start was always on the cards , riders got caught up in early incidents but lucky came away without issue but losing a lot of places in the race.
Rosie was fighting back up and making up places well but having to fight back so hard so early was always going to hurt later in the race. Maddie worked hard slowly working through the pack in the second large group on the road, team mate Rosie would be a great support to guide Maddie further up the field in the later stages , Sasha Smith and Olive Holliday worked tirelessly to push through the field before being picked up by the broom wagon in the later parts after the repeated harsh climb took its toll, a great first ever Nat A for Olive and Brilliant big race experience
as a small team getting closer to that front bunch each race is what's driving us , we have the talent we have the desire , we will get there, we start early looking for 2024 sponsorship to keep giving these talented riders the opportunity and recognition they deserve.Proud doesn't come close.
See you at the Nationals !
today was about numbers and getting the team used to riding together and working together , these races often end in a sprint as its hard to get away , but the plan was to attack and keep attacking , the team spent a lot of time pushing the pace and taking on their individual roles for the day, with a mix of riders it was great to see different riders making moves and trying to make something happen in a very strong field.
As expected it came to a sprint with Clare Parkin finishing 7th with Rosie just behind in 11th , the team as a whole had worked their socks off and it was awesome to see the support for each other and commitment to work together, More lessons learnt as we look to tighten up the focus and get the team where they deserve to be.
In the cat 4 race new member Jan Taylor took to the line with Liffey Daniels who having previously won at odd down was looking for another strong ride , again Jan really put a lot of work in to make a breakaway happened but nothing stuck, with both riders finishing well in the final sprint and liffey gaining enough points to move unto Cat 3
This 3 stage race started with a Hill climb , then a TTT then a crib , the team came away with riders spread over the GC and in a good position for the TTT
Big efforts in the first event with Maddie 4th overall closely followed by Lilie and Rosie
Stage 2 saw a polished effort by all teams with Rosie and Lilie boosting themselves right into the GC mix with 2nd in the TTT
With lilie 5th overall the team rallied around her to support the GC push , with Rosie just behind we had options and the race started fast and furious
Olive really showed her team support pulling some great turns to make sure lilie was in the mix , with Rosie right at the front of the pack
lilie ( not pictured ) held on for 5th with Rosie just behind inn 7th ad Maddie 10th on GC, the team showed great support for each other and we learnt a lot, we keep chipping away, with so much talent in the team the good times are coming
What a day , this was always going to be a huge test for the team and conditions made a already brutal event even tougher , with only 31 finishers out of 110 in the juniors race in the morning this race as always was going to be as much about luck and missing the incidents as anything.
The pace was brutal from the start and with all the biggest UK teams and riders out a few of the team lost touch early getting caught up in early crashes , all coming away safe but way off the. bunch Rosie Wayland managed to fight her way to the front bunch ( just pictured in the middle of the 3rd row ) and Maddie Haywood was just on the back of the group before an untimely puncture pushed her way back and eventually out of the race. Rosie battled on and came home with superstars Sophie Lewis to finish a massive learning expierience and first taste of National A racing on the toughest course in the UK.
The whole Team did themselves and FTP racing proud and the excitement for more big races is very high.
Big thank you to Paul from Arrow Cycles in Lincoln who supported as Mechanic on the day and to all the sponsors who continue to believe in the future of FTP racing .
The Women's team have gained another excellent partner for 2023 in the shape of Limar , Limar Helmets are worn by some of the best teams in the world and where a great choice for the team.
The Team will be wearing the Awesome Air Speed helmet with custom logo , teamed up with the ARGO or CAOS sunglasses to really finish the look , ensuring the riders are ticking the aero and safety box.
We will be working closely with Chicken Cyclekit on this partnership , helping keep everything running smooth and the team race ready.
Today was setting the standard for the riders , taking the pressure off , ensuring they can focus on the race in a chilled Environment, a big thank you to Bristol South for organising the event.
Maddie doing a pre race interview warming up alongside team mates Rosie and Marianne before Charlotte arrived to make up the team on the day , Rider Claire Nott from the army team setting up to enjoy the atmosphere in the Team FTP camp
The team supported each other well , staying out of danger , moving in the group and building that team confidence
When needed to the team worked well together, Maddie here doing the turn on the front to bring it all back, wishing with Team mate Rosie that today was a little hillier
As the race went on a bunch sprint was always on the cards , a few riders including Maddie and Rosie tried to breakaway but as with the others it was shut down quickly
A course of all left handers meant you knew where to position , cross wind at the finish pushed everything to the left with Rosie getting boxed in, but that's racing and we learned a lot today
High 5 are one of our first sponsors to come on board, what we loved about High 5 was the fact they are very much about how they can help support the Women's team and support outside of the nutrition products they are known for.
The biggest target and drive for the Women's team is supporting the rider , both in making sure they have the tools and products needed to get to race day in the best physical form but also the support of taking away race day pressures, having a mechanic on site at the Bigger races, and having a comprehensive race calendar, we've brought in Mental health support and listened to the riders themselves on what they need to perform and enjoy what they do.
We are thankful to High 5 for supporting our ambition for our Women's team and look forward to working with them in 2023.
If you would like to find out more about being a partner / sponsor in FTP racing Women's team please get in touch.
watch out soon for rider announcements
